Privacy Notice
This notice explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights available to parents and guardians using Build It Labs Kits and the Build It Labs App.
Who This Is For
Build It Labs offers interactive STEM learning kits for families. Parents or guardians create and manage accounts, activate purchased kits, and oversee child participation.
Children under 13 should use the service only with a parent or guardian's permission and involvement.
What We Collect
From parents or guardians, we may collect a name, email address, login credentials, kit activation details, product access records, and consent records.
From children, the app may store a first name, age, selected kit path, module progress, badges, and journal content on the device. Journal photos are kept on-device by default until a parent or guardian reviews and approves sharing.
We also process technical identifiers needed to operate the service securely, such as authentication and session-related identifiers.
How We Use Information
We use information to create and manage parent accounts, activate kit access, create learner profiles, deliver self-paced modules, provide Sparky guidance inside the Build It Labs App, store approved journal entries, respond to support requests, and maintain security.
We do not sell children's personal information or use it for behavioral advertising.
Service Providers
We use service providers to operate the app, including Firebase services for authentication, database storage, and file storage.
If a parent approves sharing a project photo or a child uses supported Sparky guidance, the content may be processed by service providers so the product can generate educational responses.
Parent Rights
A parent or guardian may ask to review the categories of personal information collected from their child, request deletion, refuse future collection, or revoke consent for future use.

Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Parent interest leads are deleted after 12 months if no kit purchase or activation occurs. Parent account and activation records are kept while the account is active and deleted within 60 days of a verified deletion request. Local child profile and progress data remains on the family device unless exported, shared, or deleted by the family. Approved shared project photos or event submissions are deleted within 180 days after the related community activity ends, or earlier on parent request. Consent records are retained for the period reasonably necessary to document lawful collection, even after other data is deleted.

Privacy and Safety Reminder
Children should not share full names, home addresses, phone numbers, school names, or faces in photos unless a parent has specifically approved that sharing.
Parents should review any project photo before sharing it with Build It Labs or submitting it for a community showcase, and confirm that the photo shows the build rather than personal details.
